I don't know about this particular camera, but some allow you to adjust flash intensity to compensate for burning the subject or underexposure. Open your menu bar and just scroll through all your adjustments to see if it's available. If you cover the flash to reduce intensity make sure you don't cover the sensor for the built in light meter. It will cause the flash to brighten because the camera thinks it's darker than it really is. If you have a hot shoe then I think an external flash will help as they are adjustable. Many have a chart on the back to help you determine the correct setting. Nice tank.
