I just hooked up my new lighting, I have a 29 gallon tank and i put an ice cap Vho set up on it with 300 watts, how long should i leave it on since the old light was only 20 watts? I just dont want the tank to go crazy. If anyone could help me out i would appricate it. and should i work up to like 1 full 12 hours over a period of time or wont it matter?

I wouldn't put all the bulbs in it yet. On an ICE CAP, I believe you can run any combination of bulbs(Like just one). You may want to check that to be sure. I have heard of "scorching" coral with a massive increase in lighting. 20 to 300 is a big jump all at once.

Since you don't have corals yet there is not real "issue" other than a possible algae bloom.
But you can start out with 4hr photoperiod, and move it up every day by a half hour or something like that.
