I clean the algae dust every few days off my front glass with my net but appearently I accidently caught an astrea snail that was on the glass in the net and didn't know it so I put the net up in the tank stand/cabinet where I always do. well for whatever reason AT LEAST 24hrs later I happened to pick up the net and notice the snail still in there (with no water of course). So I'm thinking I'll pluck the this dead thing out of the shell with tweezers and as I'm getting ready to my wife says put it back in the water snails can survive out of water. Naturally I said its a sea snail not a damn slug. well as I went to pluck it it retracted back in its shell. So I dump it back in the tank (no acclimation of course. house temp is 8 degree's cooler than the tank temp). Put it on a rock where hermits would leave it alone and within 4 hours the damn thing was moving around normally. This was two days ago and its still doing fine. Just how long can they survive or at least exchange oxygen out of water?
