I am a new hobbiest. I have a 29g Biocube, all stock options, no skimmer. 79temp, 16lbs live rock, live sand, and 1lb live rock in the back middle compartment. It's my first week of the cycling process, AND MY lfs TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE FLORSCENT LIGHT ON 24HRS, AND THE NIGHT LIGHT 2-3 HOURS A DAY. Should I keep doing this?
My live rock seems to have green algae, burgundy akgae, and on one rock there is a couple of spots with white looking algae! Isn't the white algae a bad sign? What does green/burgundy algae on white rock mean?
What are good starter fish?
Do I need a skimmer, or is 5gallons every two weeks about the same?

stop w/the 24 hr light cycle JMO. 8 on the rest off, Sounds like ur off to a good start!!! keep the same water change cycle along with a skimmer. An aqua c remora is a great hang on the back skimmer also is the prizm delux. Start w/ a pair of perc clowns for ur starter fish in about 3 weeks. Good luck and keep asking questions!!!
