I have a 65 gallon tank that and want to make it saltwater. I have a magnum 350 canister filter with penguin bio wheels and power head to help circulate the water. I am wondering what additional equipment I need to get this thing going right. I am thinking about an agressive or semi-agressive reef tank so I am also wondering what fish would be good with a lionfish

you will need a good protein skimmer and a good wet/dry filter(biological). Don't rely on the magnum I have one for cleaning after feeding time and to occaisonally polish the water, aggressive fish such as triggers, puffers and the like go great with lion fish, but don't add to many maybe 2, they also don't mix with coral well(they like to nibble and will probably kill them)And make sure you dont feed goldfish they carry diseases, and dont have the nutrients they need to remain healthy. I made that mistake when I first stated and I lost a few fish due to ick, bottom line get a good protein skimmer, good biological filter, don't over feed them, don't over crowd them and have fun!

what brand and how big of a wet/dry would you suggest? I have purchased an amiracle protein skimmer already as well as lights

to be pefect honest with you I don't know the name of mine, what's best is a better question for some of the experts on this board! I myself just started the the wet/dry set up, I did have a under gravel filter, they work well but what they don't tell you is all the waste below it gets trapped and with a aggressive tank your bacteria may not keep up and your water will get terrible I had constant prob with nitrates and ph but with the wet/dry I have had no problem yet(knock on wood) I use a berlin classic turbo skimmer and it works very well, you'll get more posts on this tomorrow as most are asleep. I wish I could help more.
Just remember most of these guys have done this for years (myself 12 yrs) and it's a constant learning experience,no one knows everything(some close), just be patient and you'll do fine!
