I was wondering if you have a live sand bed you can't use a undergravel filter I don't want to sound stupid but I need to know. And which is better live sand or crushed coral or what???? thanks peeps

I've heard negative things about a undergravel filter with dsb. I like l/s over cc because I think it looks more natural. I have cc in my 75g f/o and it's ok. It was my first tank and if I were to do over I'll put l/s. Ditritus can get caught between the cc and your nitrate levels will go up. You just have to make sure you siphon the cc, unlike l/s.
