juv imperator question

In spite of conflicting compatibility opinions, I could not pass up a beautiful juv imperator. It is 3-4 inches and eats voraciously. How can you tell when it will go adult? Thanks fot the info.

It will slowly start changing in between the two patterns, you will notice yellows showing up underneath the Juvie lines. It looks really cool as they grow up.

Hi there!
Attached are a few pics of the transformation of my juv emperor. I got him when he was about the same size as yours, in its complete juvenile coloration. Now 7 months later, he looks like a young adult. He still has a lot of changing to do, but he looks more like an adult now. Just sit back and relax and enjoy your fish' transformation.
Regards
The first one is at 2 months.

I have a 500 gallon FOWLR. I have 6 angels in my tank and there's no problem. Maculosus, Emperor, Juv Passer, Personifer, Juv Blue Face, and Scribbled Angel. All are voracious eaters and doing very well.

Hey glad to see that someone else thinks that only one angel can be kept in a tank is total BS...
Awesome looking fish... what all do you feed your emperor to look so good? Just angel formula mixed with vitamins or do you mix in some live sponge every once in awhile?

Cincy, if you're asking about what I feed my angels, I make my own concoction. I mix in clams, mussels, oysters, squids, and beef heart and freeze them in a zip lock bag. I also put zoe vitamin in the blend. I also feed mine mysis shrimp, krill, Mega Marine Angel (although not everyone likes this one), Formula 1 & 2 and some veggie flakes.

None whatsoever. The Clown Trigger keeps to himself. He swims laps around the full length of the aquarium (10 ft) - in and out of the crevices. He's actually a joy to watch. I've never seen him chase any of my angels. In fact, my gold rimmed tang is the one who's chasing my CT when he gets into the tang's territory.

No, I've been trying to, but the darn thing is too long. I'd have to get back too far to get a full shot, but by then, it's too small to see any details. I could try to get an angle shot, but it'll be distorted. If I get a good shot, I'll post it.
Cheers

did you realize he has a 500 gaalon tank? thats the main reason why he can keep more than one in a tank. some people want to keep 2 in a 50 gallon and thats just not advisable. lets not go over board here and make people think it ok to have more than one large angel in a tank without specifing how big the tank is.
on the other hand i could say that your not supposed to keep a queen in a reef, cause in my case she hasn't touched anything n my tank for over 2 years now, but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. key word being yet, i have a hammer, bubble, frogspawn, gsp, yellow polyps, shrooms, and xenia with her not touching anything yet!

I agree that anything less than a 100 gallon will be too small for any large angel. Having said that, I once kept a 3" juvi Koran in a 72 gallon for more than 3 years, but by then, he was more than 6".
Here are a few pics of my 500 gallon aquarium --- not the greatest shots since I have no clue how to use my digital camera properly.
