I've been thinking about getting a 3 to 4 inch Queen Angel. Does anyone have experience with them? I'm trying to look for the hardiest adult angel fish. My LFS said the Queen's were the hardiest, but he's selling it for $80 buck. WOW! Are they worth it???

I strongly DISSAGREE that the queen is a HARDY fish at all. At best they do OK in captivity,,,But I have heard more then a few death stories about them.IMO you would be better off spending your money on a dwarf angel...Say a coral beauty(very hardy fish) or a flame angel...I think this fish store guy is just trying too get into your pocket, and seperate you from your money as quickly as he can...

Thanks for the info sammystingray. I have a 75 gal tank for now but that's why i want to get a juvi until i get a bigger tank. So far i have a niger trigger, clown, corel beauti, and a baby yellow tang. Do you think i should get one. I just can't imagine spending so much money on 1 fish, but i need that last center piece fish. Any suggestions?

I have queen angel Juv about 3 inches long in my 55G..He is very tough and hardy i guess. Don't get confused with Blue Angel, they look really similar.i don't konw how i can distinguish those two...
I have had him for 3weeks now.....
didn't have any fight with Flame....but Purple tang was chasing him for a while..now they are ok....Queen juv nip one of my anemones...
I love his color and active characteristics so far..and i am thinking to upgrade my tank as it grows...(when is tax return season?)..
Good luck..
P.S. i bought this angel for $34........
$80 is too high for Juv..i guess......

i have had queens for a long time now, i even kept one in a reef tank for a few years. it never did bother a coral, but i caught it when it was like 1". I would NOT suggest adding a larger one to a reef tank. Now he is 8" and quite friendly, i have him in my agressive tank so it not a problem, funny think is my gf bought a large porcupine fish cause she thought the were cute, the queen beats up on him, i am going to take him back to the store quite soon, but the one of the other fish in the tank is a 2" horned burr fish, Fred, (the burr fish ) rules the tank. even my queen gets out of his way :)

gorgot somethin, the differences between a queen and a blue are quite easy when they are adults, the queen has a crown nd generally has a deeper blue colour. in the juv stage, the queen is COMPLETELY outline in a brilliant blue and has the distince angel shar, (that being the two trailing fins) the blue in it's juv state is more striped with the blue colouration and has the trailing edges rounded
hope i helped
