I was using intant ocean salt in my tank for months then found out it has less calcium then other brands. i wached over time as my coroline algy died off and was replaced by green hair algy. I was using DI water from (Super Bigmart). I finally broke down and got an RO system and did a major water change over the past two weeks. my new calcium test kit showed my calcium level at just under 400 mg/L before my water changes. I just dripped a gallon of Kalkwasser ( 1 teaspoon in 1 gallon) into my 75 gallon tank yesterday and the test today says i have 540 mg/L of calcium now. The kit says 400 to 450 is optimum. my question is, is the 540 i have now dangerous to my reef and will it be dissipated by the skimmer or used up by the corals to bring down to a safe level?
