kalkwasser and high PH?

i use the seachem PH buffer. it says it will not make your PH go above 8.3 even if you overdose. well my PH was 8.3 then i added kalkwasser to it like the directions say on the container. i was told to add it to make my coralline algae grow better. i checked my PH later that night it was between 8.6 and 9. since im in a cycle it didnt hurt any fish, and the dead shrimp im using to cycle my tank didnt seem to mind. well i took it back and got some liquid calcium made by kent. my question is will this affect my PH too? and i was told by a man at another lfs to not worry bout the PH since i dont have any fish, and it will eventually go down by itself. is that true? i could use any help here.

How did you add the kalk? It should be dripped at a rate of one drop per second give or take.

Interested in how the kalk was added and prepared....I've recently started using kalk myself and I'm concerned about its effects
In my system I add kalk with ro water.....1/2 teaspoon per 500 ml.......drip at approx 1-2 drops per sec 3x weekly....after lights out
to date no noticeable ph rise.....calcium and alk are stable.......
ph-8.3
calcium-420
kh/alk-10.6 dkh/3.77 meg/l

NM you are doing it correctly. You can use it for all water lost to evaporation. At night is the best time to drip it to keep the ph stable. Also it should be dripped into an area of high current.
