Lost my saddleback butterfly tonight.
Earlier today I noticed my skimmer overflowing and was on my way out to work. I asked my wife to unplug it. Well, it appears that it was overflowing enough to make all the stuff in it to get out and back into the tank. :scared:
I came home and the butterfly was laying upside down breathing rapidly. I cleaned the skimmer cup and plugged it back in, removed the fish and put it in my QT. I had to take out the SNE prematurely from the QT and now it is acclimating to go into the DT. All the other fish look healthy as far as I can see.
For the past few weeks I noticed the BF getting thinner and thinner. Couldn't find anything that it would eat. I'm thinking the skimmer gunk put him over the edge. I've only had the BF for a month and 2 days. I did not QT him...
Even if I had, would have I still had the eating problem?
I'm leaving in 2 days for vacation...this is not the way I wanted to leave my fish tank in the hands of a friend. I'm so worried I will only have a tank with LR in it when I get back.
