Kent Marine -RX-P

I guess I'm asking the wrong question. I got a Kole Tang and I noticed a white spot on its side, I naturally assumed it was ick. I immediately set up a hospital tank, bare bottom with a piece of coral and some plastic plants. The reason I added the plants is because I added my other fish to the HT, which are a flame and a yellow angel. I called myself getting it stopped before it contaminated my reef tank. The reef tank has a sterlizer on it, so I was wondering do I need to worry about the ick being in the display tank. And is Kent Marine (RX-P) a good med? The HT tank is a 5 gallon I had around the house. The filtration is like a mini sump, I took out all of the filtration media. I have a heater and the temp is at 76 degrees and I have a lighted hood. I was going to do a water change and those far everybodhy looks good. The spot on the Kole is still there but I've been giving them select food and Formula 2. Is there anything else I can do? I've been seeing posts about garlic, but will this kent be ok for now? The HT has been set up for 2 days. :(

I'm going thruogh the same thing you are right now. I removed all my fish from the main tank and put them in a HT when i noticed ick. I wouldn't use the RX-P in the main tank or the HT, that stuff will not rid you fish or your tank of ick. The ick in your main tank will be gone in 23-30 days with no host(fish) in the tank. If i were you i would treat the HT with hyposalinity, i'm doing the same thing. Just bring your salinity level down to 1.009 over a two day peroid and leave it there for four weeks. Than slowly bring levels back up to normal levels. Remember to make regular water changes so your HT won't cycle. Don't be nervous about doing this, at first i was but the prosess is easy and fish really don't seem to be stressed or anything. Almost forgot, make sure that your hydometer is accurate to make sure you are at 1.009. Hope this helps you out. Good luck.
