I have a Prizim Pro Skimmer and a Magnum 350 Filter.
I have Kent Phosphate Sponge in both the Skimmer and Filter it was added this fast Sunday.
How long do you generally leave it in ther? Can I leave it in for 3 months and do the exchange?
Thanks

Leave it in until phosphates are at a level you are happy with. Phosphates will rise again when it stops working - so test now and then.

Kipass is correct, I enjoy using the Kent instead of the Phosguard. The one thing that kipass forgot is that if you are a first user of either product you will want to remove it after no more then 48 hours. This is based off the fact that if your system has an aboundance of phosphates in it then after 48 hours the phosphates will be released back into the aquarium. If you have already performed this stop and have gotten the phosphate levels down then you can leave it in for a longer period of time depending on your system. The best way to determind when to change the material is after the levels start to raise. You may find that if you are consistant in your process that you can set schedule.
Please let me know if you believe differently.

I've used both Seachems Phosguard and Kents Phosphate sponge(personally I prefer Kents)...as a rule I leave either in the system for 2-3 days then remove it...and I only run it once a month or so. I use the same method for carbon...once a month for 2-3 days tops. Works well to reduce phosphates and polish the water a bit.

I would have to say that is probably the best method, even though I do not use it. The reason that I say that is because you do not have to worry about forgetting it and wasting the product as much. Recharging only works so well and then you have to get more.

If you shop around Kents can be bought for about $100 for a 5 gal bucket. Much cheaper than buying small batches....going to lfs was about to break me untill I started buying in bulk...good luck.
