I have a kenya tree coral frag, that has been closed up for about 2-3 days. I have no idea why. I got my water tested, and it was perfect. I have good flow in the tank, the salinity is a little on the low side, but thats it. I can post a picture a little later if needed. What do you guys think the problem is?

any corals u added to the tank recently? what other corals r in there? sometimes corals will close up for a few days. imo, do a water change and see what happens.

That is normal for a kenya. It is shedding, although I never really saw mine shed. It my last up to a week or so. It will be fine.

Yep, I actually just did a water change. I did try to raise the salinity a tiny bit. I will see if anything happens in the morning. Thanks for both of the replies so fast.
And nycbob, I did add a colony of zoas today, but the kenya was closed up before that.

Do please post a photo if you can.
What is the salinity at? What kind of flow does the kenya tree get?

Thanks for the photo.
What are your water parameters and how long have you had the tank setup?
Also, what kind of flow is the tree getting?

salinity:1.023, before the water change it was about 1.021

ammonia:0
nitrate:0.1
nitrite:0
phosphate:0
The tank has been up for about a month. I have a maxi-jet 900 and two power filters.

How much of that flow is getting to the coral? Is it real still? Is it getting pushed around? Somewhere in the middle?

When the kenya was open it seemed like it would get some really good flow, but now that it is closed up it is still. I used to have the maxi jet set up on the side of the tank as oppose to just the back, I think I will put it back on the side.

If it makes you feel better, Kenya trees are nearly indestructable. Make sure that it gets some flow - enough that it waves around nicely but isn't clobbered - and it will come out for you. Get the flow right and give it a few days and all should be well.

I have not paid too much attention to them in the past but it almost seems that they act the same as xenia. They close up almost seemingly to be dieing, then they comeback and spread.

Mine shrivels up like that about once a week. Everytime I think it's about to die it opens back up and gets really pretty??!!

Yeah I think I just got worried because Ive never had one before. At first I wasnt too worried but then the 2nd and 3rd days came around and it was still closed up. But now its opened up and yep it does look a little bigger.
