How do you keep low light corals with MH. I have a 65 and plan on having 2 175 watt bulbs of mh. Is there a way to get them without putting them in the shade? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

I have mushrooms and polyps and zooanthids in my 120 with 2 250 watt halides, and 4 110 watt VHO's. I originally put them at the bottom or shaded, but now they have grown and spread up toward the light. I think a lot of "low light" corals can gradually get used to much higher lighting, but shocking them with a lot of light is not a good idea.

I also have a 120 gallon with 2 250w MH's and 192w PC actinic-only and the shrooms love it. They are all about mid-level in the tank

Start them in the bottom and they might grow to the light. If not, put them in a little cave or a shaded area..
