I agree with Bagatelle. Or Mangrove Mama's (mm10, not KW)

Louis Backyard is probably the best choice...its got the ocean view, quiet and away from the "Duval" hussle, but still close enough. Very elegant food, quiet, private, breezy. I've had my share of romantic dinners there! Be sure that you have a good chunk of money credit available on your credit card....it ain't cheap.
Martha's is also very nice place on the beach. Afterwards, you can go take a nice long walk across the street next to the ocean. You can be romantic and if you are lonely for your fish tank, you can see plenty of those too! LOL

thanks for the suggestions, i will check out those links. sloppy joes, m'ville will be visited during the week im sure. Not sure if im going to go fishing or snorkeling. i havent been diving in a few years so that is most likely not happening. Since there a bunch of KW people here i have another question for you. Im renting a car and driving into kw from the airport, i wasnt planning on keeping the car for the week just the night we drive in. should i rethink that idea and keep car longer, is it needed? i have never been to keys and realy dont know what or where to check out.

yeah I was like nineteen when I stayed there don't remember to much except I did alot of partying.
thirty6- I realy depends on what you plan on doing and where it is. Did you want to check out the other islands too? Maraton has a nice beach. Duval has alot of resturants, and giftshops, I think they still have scooter rentals too. I know theres a trolly tour you can take of the island. There is a couple really nice parks, and museums. You have alot of options, fishing, sunset boat rides, key west tour(by trolly), dolphin encounters, snorkeling, parks and preserves, museums, parasailing, skydiving, or just relaxing at the beach, and then you can crusie the party scence on duval at night if you want.
Ohh and Watch out for key deer! Obey the speed limit. They will give you a ticket in a heartbeat.

I would keep the car. "The Keys" isn't really "The Keys" in KW. I would recommend leaving KW for a day trip one of the days so you can experience what else the islands have to offer.

How else do you plan to get around? Where are you staying? I would keep the car for a couple of days at least. If you decide you don't need it, turn it in. Taxi is not cheap. In fact, nothing is cheap.

thanks for all the help. im leaning on keeping the car, well be staying for a week so it may be good to check out some other places. were staying at the wicker guesthouse on duval street. a close friend of mine stayed there and said it was a nice place nothing too fancy. to be honest i really didint there would be that much to do as everyone is telling me so i bought a book yesterday so i can read up a bit and have a clue when we arrive. Im always open for some suggestions though!
