killer snail ?

is this some sort of killer snail ? I brought this sand sifting star home and the next day this snail ate it.

looks like a nassarius chowing down on a dying star to me (thats what they do they eat dead stuff)

im not sure if its a Nassarius, I dont see its long tongue nor does its shell look pointy enough.. BUt its defiantely eating the dead star, I dont think it killed it but more like "cleaning up"

Whelks are predatorial and look similar to nassarius.I'm not sure if thats what you have but I would get rid of it if its a hitchhiker.
