King Crab???

Um.... okay, I asked for an Emerald Crab... they asked which tank... I saw what I thought was an Emeral Crab, they grabbed it, I brought it home... now that I get a real good look at him, he IS NOT an Emerald Crab. He's the same size as all the Emerald Crabs I've seen, and similar shape, but his face sticks out from the rest of his shell, pointy... and his claws are pointy.
I've got my 10 gallon going with some live rock and some Hermits, wanted to add something else to watch until I turn it into a refugium for my 100.
Anyway, it really looks like a King Crab, minus the spikey bumps they usually have.
Anyone have a clue what it might be? Does this sound unlikely to be a King Crab?
I think I'm going to take him back regardless.

If his claws are pointy, that means that he is preditory. I suggest you take him back to the LFS. Aren't king crabs cold water species? If so, I doubt a LFS would have very much interest in it. If its built like an emerald crab, it could be a gorrila crab, which is preditory.

I took it back. I asked another one of the fish people at the store what kind it was and he said "some kind of decorator crab"...
It was the same size as an Emerald but it was more of a brown color and its face was pointy, extending out from its shell.... it looked like a gigantic tick. Like I said, I think it looked like King Crab but it didn't spikey bumps all over it. They exchanged it for a real Emerald Crab.

yea thats what it looks like a tick not a spider. I got a decorator crab from this site he is one scary looking monster, thought mine would be the size of an emerald and they gave me a golfball with legs size tick :scared:

it sounds like an arrow crab to me, they kinda look like king crabs but small and they have pointed faces and pointed claws.
