All right, I have a small problem. I work at a summer camp and I need to come up with, among hundreds of other things, awards for my areas. If you know nothing about knots, that's fine this problem has little to do with that. I am really good with knots, but need help thinking laterally. I want to tie something called a grommet. A grommet is a knot technique that creates an endless loop of rope. It is incredibly difficult to find the starting and ending spot for the knot and all around it looks pretty cool. With this technique you can form celtic knots, like this:
.
But here is the problem. I want to do this and somehow write on the award. I want to put the pack's number or the kid's name or what have you. If I simply put a piece of tape on the knot, then it will appear as though the start and end of the knot is covered by the tape. It will lose its ability to confound. I thought about maybe tying it through a piece of wood, but that may not look good depending on the shape of the wood, plus I don't know if I could find a drill large enough to drill such a hole. So do you guys have ideas? If you can think of something an 11 year old would like more than a grommet, that's another option. Thanks in advance.
