I think this is a zoanthid, but I've never seen one like this. I almost looks like a purple death although the color is pastel green. It is extremely slimey. I haven't been able to find any pictures of a zoo like this.

*S* unfortunatly it seems like only members of protpalythoa are easier to visually ID when it comes to Zoantharians. there are 4 types commonly seen in the trade (with a few others becoming more prevalent) the 4 most common are P. tuberculosa - P. mutuki- P. grandis and P. heliodiscus. its funny as you know with the taxonomic troubles with anything scientests discover there is genetic research showing that palythoa and protopalythoa are only different in shape that their genetics match up so as to make and I quote "the genus Protopalythoa is erroneous nomenclature" I still use it as there is an obvious visual distinction which is good enough for me for the moment untill I see more research on the subject.

thanks, now how did you id it? Were you able to find a site of book with pictures of these? I googled the name, but only came back with scientific articles without pics.
Have any of you ever seen these for sale? Know if they are rare or not. They are very nice/unique color. I'm going to be selling a bunch of frags of other things in a week or two, if either of you who id'd it purchase anything else I'll throw in frags of this at no cost for the help.
I'm 99% sure this is from Australia. I picked it up from a guy you had just purchased a box from Australia that I was buying duncans from.

I've got a couple colonies of them. They're very hardy, ridiculously fast growers and exist, for the most part, in abundance.
And now we wait for reefkprZ to add on a few random facts about them that no one knew...

they are fairly common as GRabbit said. about the only other random fact I can throw in is they subtly morph color quite easily under different lighting scenarios. from brown/brown to silver/pink to almost totally grey/silver.
your going to have a hard time finding google images of them Green because most people only partially lable their pics (palythoa) instead of the whole name due to either not knowing or knowing and not wanting to type it all out. sorry I cant be more helpful.

here are pictures of two colonies in my 75g one under super low light and the other under high light. you can see the highlight one is almost pure silvery/blue the low light one is brown on brown. (these both are from the same original colony) even their body style has changed a bit due to lighting teh tentaxcles are wavier on the high light ones and the oral disk is more pliant looking, the low light ones are straight tentacled and have a perfect circualar disk. same original colony different light (same tank)

Aww c'mon! I already knew that one!

It's actually pretty cool. I had them in my 30 gal under 150w MH and they were purple with a silver sheen. Now they're in my 3 gallon under 36w 50/50 PCs and they're now more like a metallic blue.

I have some green protopalys in my 30 gallon. I will take some pics a bit later provided I can remember where I put my camera...
