Koralia hydor pump

Hello, what pump do you recommend for a 58gallon saltwater tank? I have used the koralia pump and it has a great flow with current. However, I lost a green chromis and blue tang to it due to it reversing its flow and sucking the fish to the wall of the pump. This happened in September. Instructed to keep pump clean to help prevent this problem in the future. I purchased 2 new pumps in approximately September. Yesterday when I cleaned the tank and the pump, it reversed the circulation. I tapped on it as have been told previously and it reversed flow so it was blowing instead of sucking in the water. Scared it will reverse the polarity again. Do you have names of other pumps that will not cause this problem. What pumps donyou recommend?
Thanks. Have been a saltwater hobbyist for the last 10 years.

I like koralias - even sometimes they will reverse as well. Rio's and maxijets are also notorious for that happening as well.
If you want to know that you have a quality product and are willing to pay a little extra for it, look into Tunze powerheads as well as Vortech MP series powerheads. They aren't your typical cheapo powerhead, which you will understand once you start researching the different types. Now days many people are moving towards more sophisticated equipment that requires less tank space... these are a pretty good solution to a complex problem of water flow and turbulence.

What size were these pumps and how many did you have?
Typically, these pumps will continue to run in the forward position unless the pump is turned on/off as if they are connected to a smart wave. In this case you have to inspect the front screen here the rubber stopper is. These are easily broken off. If his is your problem, you can contact them and they will send you some new front screens.
After doing your maintenance, make sure you connect the impeller until you hear it click. The impeller will vibrate back and forward and break out the front.
Good luck to ya
