I have a young koran angel, its only about 2 inches and of course still black with t he blue and white stripes. I was just wondering how long does it usually take for them to start changing into their adult colors? I've had him for about 2 months now..i know his changing is still quite some time away but i was just wondering how long they usualy take?
Also, I have a young regal tang (blue hippo, yellow tailed blue tang...whatever) He was the first fish I put in my tank over a few months ago. for the longest time, he was doing great. Then, he just got overwhelmed with ick (or it looked like it)So I put him in a treated tank, and after a couple of days, it went away...so I introduced him back to the main tank...he did good for about a month, then it came back, so i put him back in the treated tank...same thing happened. Did good, but once again, he got it again. I've always feed him spirulina flakes soaked in marine zoe to help his immune system, doesn't seem to help, he is currently still in the treated tank, looking good but Im not moving him again until I figure out what to do. I know this species is known for getting sick, but damn. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry his was so long.

I've got a juv Koran. He's still about 41/2 inches. I got him in March, and he just now is starting to change. the outline of his body is starting to get green, but that is it. I have no idea how long a total transformation takes, i can hardly wait for him to change. that is all i can offer you, hope it helps.

how long did you leave your fish in qt? It takes three weeks to kill ick if you use hypo. If you put it back in your main tank it to is now infected with ick. do you have live rock, live sand or any inverts in the tank. if yoiu dont you can treat your main tank with hypo. If you have any of the above you will have to move all your fish to qt and leave the main tank empty for three weeks as ick can not survive with out a host. If you feed your fish garlic soaked foods it will also help them fight off parasites.

Hi sqwee28,
I think maybe you should try buying one or two cleaner wrasses to help the ick problem. These wrasses has been cleaning all my fishes all day long and I don't have any more problems with ick anymore :)

Instead of a cleaner wrasse I would recommend a cleaner shrimp. Also as stated, your tank is too small for the fish you have mentioned, even if that is all you have in the tank.
Hippo tangs are very prone to Ich breakouts so keeping him in a 50 gal with the Koran is most likely the reason he keeps getting Ich.
Do a search on Hyposalinity in the Disease and Treatment section.
