l/r turning black

I bought a couple pieces of l/r (lfs)to start cycling my new tank. after about a week it starting to turn black. I removed one small piece and put it in another tank, within 10 or 15 mins. it started returning to it's original colors!!! Anyone got any idea whats happening?? Thanks.

Sounds weird, I had some live rock get patches of white fungus on it, I just took a toothbrush and scrubbed it in the tank and it went away. Apparantly that section had died. If I remember correctly when I removed the white fungus, it was black underneath. Justin

sounds like the black more than likely is die off, sponges or something, and may take some scrubbing to get rid of it, once gone, it will finish curing faster, i have no idea why it would change color back though, that is wierd
