lace rock

so I have a reef tank and all that is in it now is live rock.....i was at my LFS today and picked up some lace rock. It has dirt on it.....but didn't know about how I should go about cleaning it and preparing it for my tank? Anyone help me please?

I was extra cautious with mine.
I put it my 'used' water from water changes, replacing the water every week. I would also scrub it with a brush and rinse it off with tap water at the same time.
I'm not sure that was overkill or not, but like you, I had some stuff on the rock that I wanted to get off.
