Does anyone know anything about Lampsnow VHO ballast kits. They are relativly inexpensive and I was wondering if anyone had any info good or bad about them.

I am also interested in finding out about these lampsnow VHO's - are they too new to have much of a following? Their low pricing makes them an intriguing alternative to Icecaps, however if people are not happy with their performance, I'll lay out the $$ for the tried and true.

I got mine in and I like it except for the endcaps they are not that user friendly but other than that they work fine.

MLM, how many lamps did you get for your 55? I'm thinking of getting 2 now and two more next year once I start thinking about adding some corals. That way I could have separate controls and have dusk/dawn lamps in one and daylight lamps in the other. Do you think this would work?

I too got my ballast from lampsnow. I got a 3 light VHO kit and I have to say that I am very satisfied with my purchase and the customer support I received. :D

I tried to fit the 4 lamp kit but it was too many bulbs to fit under my canopy so I had to settle for three 48 in bulbs in a 55 gallon tank

mlm, did you get the 48" bulbs or the 46.5" ones? Since the 55 tank is 48", I was thinking that I should get the 46.5 ones to leave room in the canopy for the endcaps. Any thoughts? Also, I have looked at a few sites and haven't seen a 3-lamp option, only 2 or 4.

You can get the 3 lamp ballast from lampsnow. I have the 48 inch bulbs and it is a very tight squeeze. If you have any concern weather or not it will fit go with the uri 46.5 inch I think they are the same wattage.
