hey all..one thing i have been always wanting is a large angel.. anyways, i love having a reef also..some of the angels say" add with caution" and some say no..but in all description, says may pick at this and this and this...its all the same in every single angels description. what is is that they typically pick on? i am trying to get one of the smaller "large" angels, and the regal is just to much of a risk for me to lose..i just dont think i can try it. but most other of the smaller ones say no to reef safe..many people are putting emperors in a reef , and i know a guy who has a large annularis in his and it only picks at xenia which is doing him a favor he says. any suggestions on what to look at, OR what is mostly common that they pick at etc..? any experiences? thanks.

i have been looking at some such as the blueline or scribbled. they are spendy, they dont get very big and thats one thing i want. i dont mind if they occasinally nip , i just dont want them mowing all my corals down.

My Emperor eats zoos like candy.

I mean ever single one in a short time.
He won't touch xeina though.

well for the majority im going to have a few brains..a few leathers..and probably a few other LPS for not...mushrooms..nothing to crazy. like i said i dont mind if the fish nips once in a while, i just dont want it to go at everything in my tank like candy and eat ALL of it haha..those 2 i named off stay rather small, and are what i would like to go with..just was curious if they go after certain coral more then others etc.

some people keep majestic angles in reefs, they can be nippers but dont tend to just chew up coral

Generally speaking, are there any types of corals that are less tempting to Angels than other corals?

If you want an angel go ahead and get one. You just have to take a chance, all angels can go after any type of corals that is the chance you have to take. I would never give up my angels, mines go after any type of brain coral or hammer but nothing else so far. So good luck with your dissension on getting an angel.

Thanks! I was 100% set on going FOWLR, but then I ended up buying the lights the guy had with the tank I just bought, and they are MH's. I was just going to do T5s or PC's. So now I have more options!
