Ok, I have finally gotten in touch with someone locally for making a tank.
I am 98% sure it will be 70x18x18. I think it comes close to 100 gallons.
My question is about the stocking. I have been up in the air on either: just large fish or some large and small. What do you guys think?

Tell me what you would put in it. I am open to anything.

It depends what kind of fish you like. Personally I like triggers and angel fish. Like I would put in an emperor angel, a bluethroat trigger, niger, picasso, a cool wrasse, a harlequin tusk, a puffer. Maybe not all of these, just giving you some ideas.

I love large angels, tangs, some triggers, butterflys, large wrasses. I also would not be against eels, lions, and puffers.
The tank is small though.. That is why I don't know what I could fit in it.

I think an emperor angel, niger trigger and harlequin tusk would be ok in your tank.

Sounds like a good tank...I would avoid the big Tangs, big Angels, aggressive Wrasses, and big Triggers.
Bluethroat or Sargassum would be fine, so would Huma....The mid sized Angels would be good, Majectic, Regal, Black Velvet, these are wonderful Angels. Smaller Tangs like Yellow, Purple, Kole. I agree that a Harlequin Tusk would be a great addition to that sized tank as well.
Ok, to be specific, here is what I would do.

Sargassum Trig
Black Velvet Angel
Harlequin Tusk
Mimic Tang
Flame Angel
Maroon Clown

Here is a list of fish I have been looking at. This is just a list of things I like. It is not a stock list. I know some will outgrow the tank.
Scribbled Angelfish
Pakistan Butterflyfish (pair)
Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse trio (or other reefsafe wrasse)
Mustard Guttatus Tang
Purple Tang
Harlequin Tusk
Goldflake Angelfish
Sargassum Trigger

Looks good. I switched the flashers out for the anthais because of a personal preference. I like the Scribble, but they do get a bit large, might be searching for a smaller one for some time?
. Same thing for Black Tang, but they usually come in already too big (almost every single one I've seen, has been 6"+, more like 8" or 9"). Not sure what other sites you have email updates to, but other one got some in the 3" range, but I've heard far to many negative reviews for that site.
Absolutely love the Pakistans. The LFS had one, and I was a stone's throw away from buying him and say o'well to my corals, they're that beautiful in person. But they wanted way to much ($60 for 1!
)

Oh, I'd a toss on a cool dwarf angel or two as well

What do you have in mind?
I forgot to add, I probably won't be running a tank again, without a pair of ORA Neon gobies in there. My Sarg loves being cleaned. Definite recommendation to add.

Hey Shawn, do you think my established guys would accept a couple of Blue Neon Gobies?
Sorry for the Hijack Regina

I think so, the main concern would be the Sunset wrasse?
I would do a 'soft' intro, and get a large disposable gladware container, punch a bunch of holes in there (not big enough for the neon to escape though), then leave that closed in the tank all day, in the sand somewhere with the neons inside. Once the lights go out and the fish go to bed, turn it upside down, and prop it up slightly so the neons can leave on their own into the rock.
It seems once the initial attention of a Thalassoma passes, they will general accept the fish (unless it's a chromis, then it's food
). As long as it's an Aquacultured ORA neon, there isn't any damage to the seas, so it's a well worth the risk scenario...

I actually threw in a largish (inch long or so) silverside yesterday for the first time to see what would happen, the wrasse got it and wolfed the whole thing down with the Tusk giving chase hoping for a scrap.
