Hey guys,
anyone get me a Latin name on this little guy? Staff at LFS yesterday didn't know. They're calling it a Bumblebee, but all I get is the Brachygobius species (The bracksih water ones) when I google that:

Pic is actually bigger than he is. He might
be 1/2" long.
Thanks,
Emil

google panda goby. They need some sort of coral to thrive. Cant remember which one though.
T
found it
The Panda Clown Goby is usually found among the branches of pocillopora coral colonies. They are a small stocky shaped fish with a very large head for their size. There are many different color variations of clown gobies, and this species is black, white and yellow. They are a peaceful fish that makes a wonderful addition to a reef aquarium containing colonies of polyp corals, as they enjoy swimming and hiding amongst the polyps. However, they may nip at the polyps of SPS corals.
It requires a 10 gallon or larger aquarium with at least one pocillopora coral and some shaded areas for the fish to hide. It will rarely become aggressive towards other fish, but will fight with its own kind in smaller tanks. Therefore, it is best if it is kept with other docile species.

Yep - that's exactly the description I just read. There seems to be some debate among various sites as to whether the pocillopora is a necessity, or that's just where they like to hang out.
Thanks again.

That is one fish that I have never seen. Looks like it has been in the hobby for less than 5 years. Must be pretty rare. Nice find

Keep us updated I'm in love with this fish

oh, and uh are you planning on getting the coral?

Not sure yet. I have a lot of experience with fish from wayyyy back in the day, but I'm new to corals. It's a fairly new tank and I'm running PC's. 65 wts each 10k and Actinic, on a 12" deep tank, but I'm not sure that's optimum for SPS - nor do I think I'm ready for them.
It seems from what I've read that as long as there are enough nooks and crannies, that's primarily what it's looking for. I have seen no indications that it has a symbiotic reltionship w/ the coral, just that it appears it's happier in their presence.
He is an awesome little fish, huh?
