lava rock

hello i am setting up a 65 gallon fish only. I was wondering if i could put lava rock in a fish tank. would there be any bad things. cause i think it would look really cool.

Lava rock is considered safe for aquariums, but be careful using it in a reef tank. They sell it at many pet shops. Some lava rock can have mineral deposits in it, like iron, and you can't see it. I have some large lava rock pieces I bought years ago at a home depot garden center in one of my tanks. I've never had a problem with them, but I would not put them in a reef.
