lawn mower blenny help!

So I bought a lawnmower blenny about a month ago and I just saw it today and its really skinny and breathing rapidly. I am assuming that he isnt eating, I have a good amount of hair algae in the tank and some other algae on the glass, is there anything I can do? thanks

have you checked your water paramaters?

Yeah, I am really happy with everything, 0 Ammo, 0 trite, trace amount of trate, salinity is right at what I am always at. Calcium is like at 500, so thats a little high, I just dont know what to do, if anything, I have a lot of hair algae on my rocks, Pet store said that the blenny feeds on that, he is never out and always stays in the back of the tank, hes done that ever since Ive known him.

lawnmowers are not really meat eaters. try seaweed. mine loves seaweed. he also loves pellets(spectrum).

Try some Spirulina flakes & pellets. My guy has been in the tank around 6 months & has grown from 2 inches to almost 6 inches. In private I refer to him as "Chubs"
At the moment I have an algae problem myself & the only time I have seen the blenny touch it is when it is in the way. He moves the algae around in the same manner he does the snails in his space, plucks them up & relocates them to the other side of the tank.

I havent seen anyone picking on him, Ive got a Phl tang,(smaller tang) and some clowns and a diamond goby. Its a pretty peaceful group, sometimes the tang gets a little territorial but nothing that bad. I feed my fish Mysis shrimp so he wouldve gotten some of that, I did take some seaweed strips and lay them down low for him to get to. other than skinny, he looks healthy, not wounds or nipped fins, or discolorations. you might wanna QT him until you can see him eat for sure, i have a lawnmower too and he is fat and sassy, won't touch the hair alge but eats anything else in the tank!

Does he look skinny all day? My Lawn mower blenny is really skinny in the morning, but by night he is blown up and stuffed full of algae and any other food I put in my tank.
