Layered bed?

I put a DSB in my 34 hex (soon to be) refugium.
I had some live arag from my existing tank on the bottom --- I was going to buy Miracle mud to mix in, but I enede up buyng another mud product and some oolite sand.
Based on the advice of the LFS, I left the arag on the bottom, then mud then sand --- total bed is about 6" deep. The layering isnt perfect --- I'm considereing just mixing it all up before it gets any significant bioload --- any thoughts?

i don't think you should have mixed the mud and the sand together. it just seems like the mud won't have the effect that it should anymore since it is now dilluted in the sand. just my thoughts.
