Leak checking new tank

Hi all. I have a question about checking a new tank for leaks. You fill the new tank up with freshwater, hook up the filters and everything else right? Do you put the filter materials in the filter? How long should the tank run before emptying it and put in saltwater? Any other advice?

Are you leak testing an older tank for structural integrity or are you leak testing a completed setup, plumbing, etc... ?

I just filled the tank up w/fresh tap H2O and hooked up all the equipment and left it for a few days. Then drained it and filled it up w/fresh water.

I have never leak checked any of my new tanks , or used one either . When I get a tank I inspect the sealant inside the tank and check the corners outside .

all you need to check is the structural integrity, just fill with water. the rest i would only check it if is a big setup
