I got it at a LFS in michigan. It is a cali ray. I forget if we can say the name of fish stores on this site. So I will post it, but it might get erased. It is called the Tropicorium. Very low maintainance. She is very small. I got her and she was about 4 inches across, and now she is about 7. She swims all day, and eats everything. Her favorite thing to eat is squidd. You need to keep the water temp a little lower then a regular tank. She is in my 180. I don't have very mich live rock, so she would have plenty of room to swim.
Let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you, I am always glad to help a fellow hobbyist. Feel free to email me for more info... leopard_babe@hotmail.com

I used to have a cortez, but I sold it, when I thought I was going to make my 180 a reef. Now I have a cali ray. I got both from the same place.
So you are right, I used to have the cortez ray.

The spotted rays are actually the smaller member of the eagle ray family, so they need lots of room. As I said in the other thread, they need a lot more room than you can offer at the moment.

The blue spotted rays only get about 10 inches in diameter don't they??
And it is the regular caribbean spotted rays that get like 2 feet??
Or am I mixed up here??

I think so. This is why I hate names. We'll go scientific. The much more hardy bluespotted, or masked, ray (dasyatis kuhlii) gets to be about 18 inches across. The much less hardy bluespotted ribbontail (taeniura lymma) is smaller at about 15 inches across. The dasyatis ray is a shining example of an eagle ray in that it has pointed wing tips on the edges of its disc and flaps its wings as it swims. It also has a very long tail, so it needs more manuevering space. The taeniura ray on the other hand will be smaller and shorter in the long run, if it survives past three weeks in a tank.

That is what I thought. You are right, I should have used scientific names. I agree they would need more space, and the others are very difficult to keep. However I love the blue spotted rays, they are so beautiful.
