Learned the Hard Way

My wife cleaned the carpets this morning with a hoover steamvac machine. We ended up with really clean carpets and a dead yellow tang. The tang was perfectly healthy before we started cleaning the carpets. I didn't realize either how toxic these carpet cleaning chemicals are or how sensitive the fish are. Best to use extreme care, maybe tent the aquarium with plastic sheet with lots of ventilation in the future.

My buddy lost a few fish and some corals when the painter came and painted his room. The whole tank turned cloudy and things went downhill from there.
Got to be aware of what you are doing with chemicals around your tank!:yes:

A guy in my area had a 300 gallon reef tank and Terminex cam to his house to treat it. The whole tank crashed. Needless to say they had to pay for it. Everything that was killed or ruined was paid for. I would be devistated.

I had terminex tell me that thier chemicals do do penatrate the water as long as you don't have any pumps on. I had my house fumagated but didn't trust them. I moved everything out. better save that sorry.

Wow, thanks for the information. I would have never guessed cleaning the carpets could do that.
