My finger leather is turning white on its tips. It started with a couple, and now I can count 14 white tips. The coral is still opening and extending polyps each day. Any advice?

My lettuce coral is showing stress around the edges. I just got new MH lights, could that be your situation?

my lights are definitely weak. I've got the leather up close to the surface... I've had it since December and it didn't show the white tips until now. I was thinking it could be necrosis from white i've seen and read on other posts, but I'm seeing polyp extension out of the white tips, which I find odd. I thought the white tips would be a dying part of the coral, but if there is polyp extension out of the white tip, then I'm thinking otherwise.
anyone have advice?

Sounds like it is bleaching. Have you had an alkalinity change recently? How old are your bulbs?

bulb is only a month old... I've only got 82 watts of 50/50 light on my 55 gallon.. this is the only piece of coral in the tank, and it is directly under (about 7" from top of tank) a 55 watt bulb... i have never monitored alkalinity in the tank, but all other parameters are good...
