leather too big

I have a leather coral which I have taken out of my tank often to cut pieces off and grow on to rubble rock. I have not done this in about 2 months and the "mother" piece of coral has grown so much it now is attached to 3 seperate pieces of LR. I cant take all 3 pieces of LR at the same time and I dont want to damage the "foot" of the coral where it has attached.
Any ideas on how to safely remove this coral from its LR base??

I've been researching the same problem. You can simply make one clean swift cut to separte the leather from the lr. The base will heal just as fast as if you lop off one of the branches higher up.
Depending on the thickness of the part you need to cut, you can use sharp scissors or a long razor blade. I got a back of these 4'' razor blades from my local hardware store for $4 and they're great!
