just got this in the mail yesterday and im pretty sure its dying can anybody tell me what happened

I agree, it looks like it is still adjusting. I personally would lean it up so that the top is not sitting in the sand. It may take it a few days or even a week or so for it to come around. You may notice that it has a thin clear skin that will shed off of it. This is commen for leathers to do, especially if they are stressed. Make sure it has enough flow to be able to shed this skin. Looks like it will be a nice piece.

are you guys sure it looks really bad to me. this is a pic from today after i got it out of the sand. is there any way i could frag it?

It just got beat up during shipping and is separating from it's base a little. Give it a few days to recover. They are very hardy. I have only had one leather really get to the point that it was either frag, or death, but you will know if it gets to that point. The bottom area will become dark/black like rotting flesh. If it gets to that point, pull it out, trim off all of the dead flesh, and reattach the remaining part to a fresh rock or something.
