LED information needed

So I went to my LFS today and he showed me all the benifits of LED lighting and I think im sold on them except for the price. By the time I walked out of there the total was going to be near 1200. I have been trying to read up on this subject for a while now but it all seems sooooo foriegn to me. All I have really taken away from the reading is that you want to use a 3w LED bulb. I came across this website that specializes in grow lights and they have a decent line of aquarium setups that are fairly good prices. I just wanted to see what you more experienced people thought about this. I remember seeing the Aq-120w being on one of these threads but cant seem to find it.http://www.ledgrowlightsoutlet.com/l...um-lights.html

I own these lights. They are ok. I payed $288 to have them shipped. I would use them on a 29g biocube, but nothing else really. By the time I would have to buy 3 more arrays, I can Diy My own really nice one for my 125. They are super bright, but have poor spread. So to span any real length of tank, requires multiple arrays.
It really depends on what your using them for. They work pretty good. But deffinatly nothing that I would fall apart over.

You dont like em?
I love mine.... Oh well each too there own i guess... I would not hesitate to grow SPS under them. As said they dont have the best of coverage. So I got 2 T5 HO dubble bulb fixtures to supplement.
I also have a 125 with 3 of them. I only payed 200 shipped when they first came out.

would you recomend putting them over a 65 gal that meausers 36"x20"x24". And are these bright enough to reach the bottom of the tank. Im sorda blind to this topic and need any suggestions for brands to look for.

Didn't say I dont like.
Im lukewarm. At fist i was upset, but then I carefully compared back and forth, and overall there is good and bad about these lights. So in the end, im more neutral/lukewarm than anything.
They are definitely going to be great for a nano. But if im spending the kind of cash needed to properly light up my 125, I can make a better LED system myself, than those cheap 1w bulbs for the same price
The money wasnt a waste, they greatly over power my MH's, but like 1/3 the coverage. So, for a nano, I think they would do well. But for a larger setup, I personally would rather spend the same amount of cash, and DIY something better.
Now, if it was DIY something equal, or inferior...then Id be all about ordering 3 more of these arrays. But as it stands, Im going to keep these for my up and coming nano(so im actually pretty pumped! And am going to DIY a nice 3W Led array, with 5w spotlights to accent specific parts of my tank.

Ah, ok.
I like em, I have 3 of them over my 125. But yes there coverage is the main issue to me. Anything below or at a decending 45 degree angle will have more then enough light. What I did is bought 2 glo T5 double units to supplement the LEDs. This will also allow for a dawn to day to dusk transition.
