the last time i heard was that LED lights are nice on tanks that are not vary deep. and its still vary hard to justify the price tag on them.

LFS has a set of these on a coral tank and they look great but at about 1,000 dollars they arent that good.

The PFO Solaris isn't worth what they charge and is full of bugs. There are other units which are better like the Aquailluminations and Sfiligoi, and those Mogul replacements, but LEDs in general have a long way to go before they can actually be compared to the 250w and 400w halides that they claim to be.
IMO save your money and stick with halides or T5.

I saw one on a tank in a LFS...It looked horrible. Had terrible color the corals looked like they all needed CPR and the light BARELY made it to the middle of the tank. I think it was a 150

I was talking to someone that worked in a LFS and he was telling me that they are ridiculously expensive and not very reliable, then pointed to one that the store was using on a display and said that this one has been replaced three times because something inside of it keeps braking. I don’t remember what brand that it was, I’m sure that some are better than others, but I would wait for a few more years for the price to drop and the quality to improve. But this is just my two cents.

i would say that it will be at least 5 years before LED fixtures can compete with T5's or Metal halides in both in how well it works and the total cost.
