led lights

I would like to get led lights for my 55 gal aquarium, but not sure what I need. The aquarium is the tall one, narrow and 4 ft long. I have both corals and fish. Does any one know what I will need and how many strips?
Thanks Shell

Shell - That's a very simple question to a very complex answer. If you're not handy with DIY projects, it would probably be best to buy your own unit. Acan lighting makes some pretty good units. I'm sure some more people will chime in on this. :D

DIY will offer you more options if you're up to it. There are more and more people making their own lights and more and more kits being sold to do so. Many hobbyists that have built them offer fair rates to build them for others, something to look into if you have an active local reef club. Where I live, everyone is going LED. My husband has built some units for local hobbyists, but he's one of many, many hobbyists doing it.
As for premade fixtures, I think Acan Lighting have the nicest units. My local reef club holds their meetings at Acan's headquarters. I've gotten to see all the units first hand and talk extensively with the owners. They are the most helpful guys out there, and offer warranties and excellent customer service.
The Aqua Illuminations SOL unit is also a nice fixture.

Thanks guys. Would I need just one strip that is 48 inches long or several strips or is there something special that I nshould be looking for?
