Photosynthetically active radiation, often abbreviated PAR, designates the spectral range (wave band) of solar radiation from 400 to 700 nanometers that photosynthetic organisms are able to use in the process of photosynthesis. So you would need to compare the PAR wave band of the light source and it’s Lumens or Lux. Most bulb manufactuars don’t give this info out. You want to know the PAR Lumens of the different spectral ranges because you get different growth rates from corals at different spectral ranges. So if you start with watts/gal it will get you close. The LED could have a bad PAR but high Lumens this would not be good for growth but it may make the tank look nice.
