Has anyone used led lights from rapidled.com? I want to retrofit my me 28 gallon anocube HQI with leds to make my corals really pop and to act as actinics. Do you think the 12 pack diy kit would work for me?
Has anybody used these or can you tell me about them?
Thanks!

Same here. I think in my situation 80 would be the best because I can't really put them symmetrically throughout the tank and because the hood is about 1 to 2 inches from the waterline. Do you know the difference between the premium and regular packs?

One thing I've noticed in reading a lot of the DIY LED threads was that when people were driving them at 700-1000mA they were bleaching corals. It seems like people have started driving them around 300-500mA and are having better lucky. Just something to keep in mind...

It is still a DIY kit and will require some custom componants. the p series dimmer will require a Pulse With Modulator of some kind to dim the lamps otherwise it will be an all on or all off unit.

They were over driving them which is bad in many ways IME. Wrong optics can also lead to wrong light distribution.

so what would someone recommend for my setup? 28 nanocube w/ metal halides.
I want to use some LEDs just to make my corals color pop and to possibly use as actinics during the daytime.
nothing too complicated or anything, I want to try to stay away frtom heatsinks and all that.

6 RB XR-E Q4's would work great.
