Lemonpeel death

My lemonpeel just died in my QT. It seemed ok - swimming around when I got him two weeks ago. Didn't ever eat very much. He never got very friendly- kind of hid in the corner of the tank.
I'm going to buy a replacement, but on this site it says that they spend the day mainly eating algae from live rocks - but my QT doesn't have live rocks - so how does it live in the QT? Did my first one perhaps starve from not having enough algae in my tank?

I think after a tank has been set up for a long enough time, bacteria will start growing on your rocks.
Thats all i know:notsure:

My display tank has lots of good stuff for this fish to eat, but how do I make sure it's got enough to eat in my QT that has no live rock, no live sand, etc.?

these can be delicate fish, so i took the chance and added it to my display tank in a guppy net and then released out of the net 4 days later since he looked great! they need to feed off of liverock and microalgae so a qt w/o these probably won't keep all of these lemonpeels alive for very long! mine is doing great for about 7 mths now! the more liverock the better they seem to do!! good luck
