Lens or No Lens on my Lights?

First of all, I know nothing about the lights on my tank except that there are two tubes in there and they work (pinkish tint). They came with a 120-gal tank (old) that's been passed on by the science department at my school. I remember reading that UV rays are blocked/changed when they pass through glass. That makes me wonder if I should remove the bottom lens on my tank lights? The lens look like the ones I have on my classroom lights.

There is no need to remove the lens. If you do not plan on keeping light loving critters, then whatever you have there is OK. If you do plan on keeping light loving critters, like corals and such, you'd really need to know what kind of lights you have.
But no matter what kind of bulbs they are, if they've been running for longer than 6 months, it'd be a good idea to replace them.
You can take the bulb to a LFS and have them ID it for you.
