Having had a tank for over a year, I made one of the biggest mistakes of a novice fish keeper (IMO) - I never replaced the power compact bulb.
After seeing my corals lack in growth and look depleted overall, I realized that the PC lighting could be the problem. I researched and found out that PC lights, after 6-8 months or so, will lose their functionality, even though they emit bright light.
Just now, I put on the new lights. The tank looks like it is glowing PURPLE. There is such a huge difference merely in appearance. The corals literally and immediately changed appearance and size.
Lesson learned.
