I traded a portion of my zooanthid colony last week to a local guy. When I went to drop off the zoas (being the nice guy I am), I noticed he had a small "lump" of something on the edge of a piece of LR. When I inquired about it, he embarassingly replied, "It's a xenia. See the tiny little arms? I think I killed it..."
I told him not to fret, that the info from this board would bring it back to life. I brought the LR with the 1/2" shriveled-up xenia home with me, and set-up a makeshift quarantine. It consists of:
- a brand new tupperware container, rinsed in near-boiling RO.
- 2 gallons of water from his tank
- Rio 180, light current from a powerhead
- 28 watt UVB light
- the qt tank is set atop a heating pad (I am using all 4 of my heaters, will buy a cheapo tomorrow.
So I changed 1/4 of the water tonight with freskly mixed RO/Tropic Marin. How do I bring this guy back?
I have:
Iodine - Xenias love iodine
Calcium, Parts A &B, Purple Up, PhytoPheast
Extra flow, extra heat (tomorrow)
The only thing I dont have is extra light.
What would you recommend I do? The guy obviously doesn't care if it dies, but I am making it my personal mission to bring this coral back.
So what are the best treatment options?
Thanks!
