Ok so i have had some trouble in the past 24 hours , thats behind us i guess,, i have a 45 gallon bow front, 2 clowns, roughly about 15-20 lbs of live rock, 2 hermit, a few glass anemone and a green anemone!!! what would be some appropriate fish to add to a tank like this? ( running a dual over flow 400 pro series, protein skimmer 150 with a 1200 series power head, and a hydor power fan pushing about 450 gph)
I'm glad to see that you're doing some more research on fish that are appropriate for your size tank. Get rid of that threadfin and the yellow tang.
Glass anemones are aiptasia and you need to get rid of them or they'll overpopulate your tank. If this tank is a FOWLR, you can look into a few fish that eat aiptasia, such as a few butterflies and filefish.
15-20lbs of live rock is not even close to being enough in a 45G tank, you need more to help with the biofiltration of the tank. I try to strive for at least 1lb per gallon, if not 2.
You speak of LR but no sand, is this a bare bottom tank? If not, what substrate are you using (sand, crushed coral?)
Some fish that will work:
Flasher and fairy wrasses
Dwarf Angelfish (only 1)
Goby (if you have a sand bottom)
Blenny of some sort, many have a lot of character such as the small tail spot blenny, or the larger midas blenny. I would stay away from larger algae eating blennies such as the sailfin blenny or the lawnmower, you do not have enough rock to maintain one and it will slowly starve over time.
Chromis (but to me they're boring)
A school of cardinals (3)
I do highly suggest getting yourself a bigger CUC before you add more fish though.
When I had a 40G, this was my stock list so you can get an idea (this was a reef tank by the way):
1 Carpenter Flasher Wrasse
2 Ocellaris Clowns
1 Coral Beauty Angelfish
1 Lawnmower Blenny
1 Bullet Banded Sleeper Goby (aka Dragon Goby)
1 very small Green Mandarin (and I seeded the tank to keep up on the pods)
2 Sand Sifting Starfish (I had an extemely mature sandbed and new I was upgrading to a 155G very soon, do not put these in your tank, they will starve and deplete your sand)
Numerous sails: Nassarius, Trochus, Astrea, Cerith
Numerous Hermits: mainly mexican reef hermits, a few blue legged hermits and a few scarlets
2 Emerald Crabs
2 Cleaner shrimp
2 peppermint shrimp
