I heard these are really hard to take care of.
Changes in salinity, ph... and water quality as a whole stresses them a lot.
Not only that but I heard they starve.
Their main diet is algae but also feed on some meaty foods.

they need alots of lr to work on all day long.
They also need a well mature tank to stay healthy.
The book said Lincka cant' be exposed to air,
but mine hang half way in the air when they are bored. So I guess they know what they are doing.

Yes, in a smaller system they will. they require a 100+ tank with over 100+ of lr.

From what i read, there is no real data of what they eat.

my cc stars do this as well....who knows....maybe its a way of gas exchange or something.

Here is my linka. I heard they were easy so I bought it and haven't given it anything special, just let it have fun cleaning up algae. :happyfish

Note that these stars take up to 18 months to starve...if you have not had it this long, you have not successfully kept them :(
THey do not eat "algae" in the sense we think of it, nor do they eat "meaty" foods. They can not typically be spot fed, and require large amounts of live rock in a mature system to survive LONG TERM. Again note the time frame for starvation

maybe one of theses days i'll be able to get one. i just saw one at my lfs in a 100+ display. awesome display, by far one of the best i've seen....anywho.... man, it was a beautiful star for sure, bright orange. oh well.
