Not sure I can help you there. It was sold to me as a tube sponge, almost 3 years ago, and during that time I have learned that most tube sponges are pink, or orange. This is very definately yellow. So, no clue as to the name or type.

Ric...I believe you are right. Just checked at Wetweb and it does look like a frilly sponge. Thanks!! I never really knew what it was.

no problem, and I was thinking about ordering an orange tree sponge, what are their requirements? And keep them coming!

I bought the orange tree sponge from this site, beautiful. But, it was way bigger than I thought it would be......easily 22 inches.
I put mine in the rear of the tank, behind the rocks. They will grow better if they are not exposed to the high lighting of mh's. It has been 2 months and going strong. Don't have a pic, but can get one this weekend.

A friend gave it to me after his porcupine puffer was tearing it apart.
