LFS & Airstones

bubbles arent really harmfull to SWfish, they just dont do nearly as much for your tank as a good powerhead will, and if the flow in a tank isnt right can actually reduce oxygen exchange by trapping protiens on the surface of the water reducing the rate of gas exchange at the surface.

MYTH....
Bubbles are not harmfull to saltwater or any body of water, they actually assist in oxygenation..same as powerheads, the only difference is the GPH ratio and the jet-strem.
The only time i would consider micro-bubbles to be bad..is when water is polluted in proteins, impurities, nitrogeous compounds, and when turbulance is limited, thus becoming toxic to marine organisms. especially fish with gills..
the reason why LFS still uses them is, oxygenation economics..

Honestly, I think they do it to make it look better.
When I first got my SW tank .. everyone wanted to know why I didnt have a bubbler or a bubble wall.. like its the most coveted thing for someone who Looks at tanks.. not those who own them :)
I do have bubblers on backup in case the power goes out (cause I cant find powerheads that are battery powered) but thats just precaution because I live in florida.
